Historic motor sport returns to Kinneil Estate this weekend: come along to the Bo’ness Speed Hill Climb from 5-7 September – organised by the Bo’ness Sporting Automobile Club (BSAC).
On Saturday 6 September and Sunday 7 September, around 80+ classic and historic racing cars from across the UK will be tackling Scotland’s oldest permanent race track.
On Sunday 7 September only, the associated Classic Car Show will also be on display in the estate, with about 200 cars including 20 exotic supercars from the Cannon Run.

On Friday 5 September from around 10am until 3pm (with a break for lunch), there will be an additional free event – the Scottish Schools Racing Championship, with about 30 school pupils racing their self-built electric cars. Come along and support the young drivers. Details of this can be found at their own web site.
The Bo’ness Hill Climb was established in 1934, and racing regularly took place, including British Championship meetings – attracting top drivers from across the UK including Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Jackie Stewart and Jim Clark – until 1966 when the track was closed. In 2008, a group of dedicated enthusiasts re-opened the racing track with the help of Falkirk Council and staged the first competition at Kinneil for over 40 years.
For Saturday and Sunday, please note the £10 entry fee at the gate (free entry for under 16s) is **by cash only**. Gates open to spectators at 9.30am. On instructions from Falkirk Council, please do not bring a dog or any other animal. Parking is free in designated areas – follow gate staff instructions. All proceeds from the event are donated to charity.
Visitors should note that there will be no guided tours at Kinneil House this Saturday, and Kinneil Museum will be closed for the weekend as well as part of Kinneil Estate. Full details and spectator information for the event including a site access plan are available at the web site of the BSAC, to whom any enquiries should also be directed. Updates are also available from their Facebook page. The BSAC’s aim is to help preserve the heritage and tradition of Scotland’s oldest permanent motorsport venue.
