90th Anniversary Kinneil Hill Climb this weekend, 31 August/1 September: historic racing cars on Scotland’s oldest track

Celebrate 90 years of historic motor sport at Kinneil Estate by coming along to the 90th Anniversary Bo’ness Speed Hill Climb this weekend, Saturday 31 August and Sunday 1 September – organised by the Bo’ness Sporting Automobile Club (BSAC).

Around 80 historic racing cars from across the UK will be tackling Scotland’s oldest permanent race track.

The Bo’ness Hill Climb was established in 1934, and racing regularly took place, including British Championship meetings – attracting top drivers from across the UK including Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Jackie Stewart and Jim Clark – until 1966 when the track was closed. In 2008, a group of dedicated enthusiasts re-opened the racing track with the help of Falkirk Council and staged the first competition at Kinneil for over 40 years.

Please note the £10 entry fee at the gate (free entry for under 16s) is **by cash only**. Gates open to spectators at 9.30am on Saturday and Sunday. On instructions from Falkirk Council, please do not bring a dog or any other animal. Parking is free in designated areas – follow gate staff instructions.

Visitors should note that there will be no guided tours at Kinneil House this Saturday, and Kinneil Museum will be closed for the weekend as well as part of Kinneil Estate. Full details and spectator information for the event including a site access plan are available at the web site of the BSAC, to whom any enquiries should also be directed. Updates are also available from their Facebook page. The BSAC’s aim is to help preserve the heritage and tradition of Scotland’s oldest permanent motorsport venue.

On Friday 30 August from approximately 10.30am to 3pm, there will be an additional free event – the finals of the Scottish Electric Chariot Championship for schools. Details of this can be found at their own web site and Facebook page.
